Volkswagen Polo was awarded the 2010 World Car of the Year

Volkswagen Polo bagged the award for 2010 World Car of the Year at International Auto Show held in New York on April 1, 2010. The Polo scored above Toyota Prius and the Mercedes E-Class in the competition. Prof. Dr. Martin Winterkorn (chairman of Volkswagen AG) made the statement that they are honored as Volkswagen Polo was selected for the top award by distinguished jury.

Volkswagen Golf won the award last year and now Polo had repeated the feat. Dr. Martin said that it had been a great moment for them as these automobiles had won every prize offered by automotive industry. It arguably suggests that Volkswagen is offering the best range of products.

In the same event, Chevrolet Camaro was awarded as the World Design Car of the Year and Audi R8 V-10 bagged the award for being World Performance Car of the Year.

Latest Volkswagen Polo is stylish and excellently engineered

The Volkswagen Polo got the award for ‘World Car of the Year 2010’ at International Auto Show in New York.  As per the reports, the latest Volkswagen Polo looks very much similar to little Volkswagen Golf and it is stylish and excellently engineered.

The award was given to Volkswagen Polo on the basis of value, significance, safety, merit, environmental impact, and emotional appeal. The new Volkswagen Polo is bit wider and longer that allows for more passenger and luggage space. Eventually, one can get more leg, head and shoulder room. In addition to it, one can also get approximately 280 litres of luggage space.  This luggage space can be extended to 952 litres by folding the rear seats.

As of now, all the variants of Volkswagen Polo come with ABS and four airbags.  Also, there is presence of ESP and Isofix child-seat mounting points as the standard features. New Polo also offers connection point for an MP3 player that can be easily accessed.
